Westweg Teil 7: Hausach-Schonach

Das lange Himmelfahrtswochenende war eine Gelegenheit, mal wieder ein kleines Stückchen Schwarzwald-Westweg weiterzuwandern.

Wir sind schon Mittwoch Abend angereist und haben in der Blume in Hausach einen angenehmen Abend und eine gute Nacht verbracht. Das war in jeder Hinsicht (Ausstattung, Qualität, Preis) die beste Unterkunft dieser Tage, und ist uneingeschränkt weiterzuempfehlen. Wir konnten sogar das Auto dort stehen lassen bis Sonntag.

Auf der Karte sieht die Etappe gar nicht so schlimm aus, ist aber wegen der 1200 Höhenmeter in mehreren steilen Abschnitten mit je 2-4 km und 100 Höhenmetern pro Kilometern eine der anstrengenderen des Westwegs.

Zumindestens steht das im Buch, und es wird auch von allen höflichen Wirten an der Strecke als Ermutigung dazugesagt :)

Der Wald sieht aus wie im Bilderbuch

Kein Wunder, dass sich davon nicht nur die ganz klassischen Künstler haben inspirieren lassen:

Manchmal wird der Wald zum Märchenwald mit bemoosten Baumstämmen und großen Felsen in der zweiten Reihe, unter denen bestimmt irgendwelche Zwerge, Gnome oder Feen leben...

Auch die Heimatkunde kommt nicht zu kurz, wir haben mindestens zwei dieser Kruzifixe mit allen möglichen Zutaten aus der biblischen Geschichte gesehen. Mir gefällt, wie die Leute die alte Geschichte in ihre eigene Zeit geholt haben, indem der "römische Soldat" aussieht wie ein Chevauxleger aus dem 19. Jahrhundert.

Auch der Wirt in Schonach hat Humor, zumindestens verstehe ich das "Viel Spaß" so. Ob der wohl weiß, dass man als WLan Passwort auch leichter merkbare und abtippbare Buchstabenkombinationen nehmen kann?

Anker Palais

Here is another Falk Gundel design for GK NF 16, a very romantic Palais. The Ankerstein.center building plans are here (log in required).

I really like the overall impression of a classical, symmetric two-wing building. The highlight is clearly the entrance area with the stairways and the high windows.

I have mixed feelings about the ambition to use up nearly all stones from GK NF 16 for the model.

It does allow the largest possible building, and is a nice intellectual challenge for the designer. Some of the stones are used up in neat and creative ways, like the 277s mentioned above or all the tiny 1/8th thickness stones as perfectly appropriate ornaments on the stairways.

But the roof construction is really straining to cover the area at all, and some ornaments like the 293s on the wing corners and the blue 210s and 320s at the foot of the columns in the back of the building look a bit like they were added just to have them used somewhere without having a real functional or aesthetic purpose.

It was a lot of fun to build, though, and as I said the stairways are truely spectacular and nice.

I'm not so excited by the roof - I like large roof areas, but the KG NF 16 stone mix barely covers this huge area and leads to some strange compromises. The use of all the stones 277 in different orientations is creative and decorative, but there are many different angles, and the highest roof layer leaves large gaps to expose the rather colorful construction of the last layers under the roof stones.

Russia: Break the stalemate against Turkey, and free up Austria to push West. March through Bud for this purpose, and grab Nwy (plus free up Sev) for one year to build a fleet in Sev.

Italy: push Austria out of Adr and the southern Balkans

France: nudge England to attack northern Germany, and stabilize vs Germany

England: get a foothold on the continent, push the German navy into the Baltic Sea. Make France support an attack on Hol, instead of pushing for Belgium all the time.

Germany: stabilize and keep Eng/Fra at bay. Maybe even tempt Eng to go for Belgium and leave Northern Germany alone.

Austria: Open the door for Russia towards the south, and turn own attention west. I.e. stabilize and open options vs Italy, and be ready to support attacks on Bul

Turkey: Tread water, try to be let into Gre in exchange for promise to stay ot of the Mediterranean
